The Kilmer Party from PA spend a lot of time tracking their deer and do not give up easily (as you can see). They are just as happy to see one of their party members bag a deer as they are in shooting one themselves (well almost). Good sportsmen. David Kilmer, Sr. has been coming to this hunting camp for the last 20+ years and it looks like his son will be following in his footsteps. DID YOU KNOW: Maine is home to one of the largest sized whitetail deer subspecies. After reaching maturity at age 5, bucks can have a live weight of close to 400 lbs. Adult bucks average weight is from 200 – 300 lbs. They stand 3′ or better at the shoulder. Does weigh from 120 – 175 lbs. Whitetails have keen sight, smell and hearing. They can leap over a 7′ vertical wall from a standing position and can run up to 40 mph. Bucks produce antlers annually. Antlers start growing in April and stop growing in August and September. They are shed in December to March. Whitetails can live up to 18 years of age but rarely do.
